Well, it's the final trip! I liked JIHLAVA but was ready to complete the WAVE! To be 100% that I would get to the finish I would have to do some "plug hunting" and make a quick pit stop to charge the battery pack. I only needed 20 mins of extra energy to make sure I would make it!

This town has magical qualities. Don't know what it is.. but it has it. It was also well worth keeping on the back roads. First again! Even Horace enjoyed the trip for some reason? I did a little search on google and found that the The city's German name, Iglau, is derived from the German word for hedgehog, Igel, hence the hedgehog on the coat of arms!!!! Long trip, remember almost running out of power! Ended up charging at Nissan half way, thanks guys, and then dropped into a paper factory making the Harry Potter paper for the new book! Last charge was a motorcycle shop before dinner at the local Nuclear Power station. Missed out on the Nuclear Power Station tour, but in a way I am glad.. :-) Want to keep my hair!

After being up in the mountains filming my range was reduced because of the cold and also the fact I had to keep going back up the mountain to collect the camera man! However it was well worth it and I can't wait to see the video! I managed to make it to the town of Vaduz by 11.00pm thanks to a kind chap in a local filling station who provided me a 3 phase outlet. Then on from here the camera man and I drove another 30km to recharge in Austria! We were saved by a chap called Lukas who then told told me that he was working with Zumtobel! Small world as I had just been on a Zumtobel LED educational course with them in the UK months before with my good friend Mr Kett. Small world! :-) Lukas was amazing, he was a real superman, he gave me power, food and a warm place to get some sleep before I headed off on the next stage!

Being a VIP we managed to make our way to the Frankfurt motor show. Over 127Km The car was perfect. I also found some new technology worth looking at!

From Dortmund to Troisdorf only 110KM

As I had a real issue finding power the night before, I had to deal with the knock on effect of this problem, I was late into Troisdorf but still managed to make it with less than .5 of a kM left in the battery! I used a 16 amp charger for the rest of the afternoon to make up the lost time. I had to stop once on the way down just to make sure I could make it! I was sure I only needed to stop for less than 10 mins to gain the correct amount of energy. I managed to plug the car into a service station but the Boss of the company demanded money! I said it was less than 10 Cents of power required, but he unpluged the car lead and said go! I managed to get the extra km in the battery and made my destination!! :-) without paying the 10 Cents!! hehe..

Made it to Gelsenkirchen from Zolder race track! Arrived at 1.00am! No plug socket, but managed to track down a plug socket by 4am, had to sleep in the car. Managed to get to all the meetings on time but no sleep!! Also with some help managed to load the battery with just the correct amount of energy to reach the next stop in Dortmond! A big thanks to the people who helped me plug the car in to reach the next step! You saved me!! :0

World Advanced Vehicle Expedition : TEAM UK

Gordon Foat has started initial range testing of the vehicle to be used in the World Advanced Vehicle Expedition. (WAVE) First tests were very positive and provided some excellent results. First long range tests in the Nissan Leaf were carried out on 29/08/11 We achieved over 143 kms on our first attempt.
